Stephen Cleaners is thrilled to be celebrating 60 years in business!
We are grateful for the support we have received from all of our clients, the community and the Stephen Cleaners team since 1962
A little history…
In 1962, Jack Stephen was a Geologist working at Imperial Oil. His entrepreneurial curiosity pulled him away from the oil patch to open the first Martinizing Dry Cleaning shop in Calgary in the community of Lakeview.
Over the years, Jack worked long hours to build a successful family business and eventually opened and operated 12 dry cleaning locations. As the business evolved, so did the company name. It changed from Martinizing to Martinizing by Stephen Cleaners to Stephen Cleaners.
Mark Stephen doesn’t remember a time when he didn’t work at the family business. He swept floors as a kid, helped his Dad build counters and install equipment as a teenager and learned how to dry clean while going through high school. When Mark graduated from U of C, he started working full time and took over the family business while Jack retired in the mid 1990s. “Family” business really does mean family as Mark’s sisters, his 3 children and his wife have all worked at Stephen Cleaners.
Mark has built his name sake on treating others as he would like to be treated in return. This applies to his clients, his community and his team. The culture of quality and kindness at Stephen Cleaners is evident in the tenure of many team members that have been with the business for 10, 15, 20 and even over 30 years!
Thank you again to everyone who has supported the
Stephen family since 1962!
